When should I arrive?
Most attendees fly in on Thursday morning or early afternoon.
Registration and the Author Expo will open around 1:00 PM, so you’re welcome to arrive at your own pace and settle in.
The main events and festivities will kick off that evening, so you won’t miss a thing if you arrive earlier in the day!
Will there be food & drinks?
Yes! Your ticket includes hosted light bites and select beverages at the Welcome Reception, plus a hosted lunch on Saturday.

Can I buy books on-site?
Yes! We’ll have a curated bookshop at the retreat where you can browse and purchase bestselling titles from our attending authors. You’ll also have the option to pre-order books in advance, making it easy to grab your selections after check-in—no waiting required!
Expo Authors will also have books available for purchase at their tables.
Where should I stay?
We’ve got The Scott Resort all to ourselves, which means everyone staying there will be right in the heart of The Creepy Retreat. The Scott is close to selling out, but we've got options. We’ve also reserved a room block just across the street at The Embassy Suites.
You do not have to stay onsite to attend the event, you just need a ticket and can stay wherever you desire.
Will authors sign books?
Absolutely! There will be several dedicated book signing sessions throughout the retreat where you’ll have the chance to meet authors and get your books personally signed. Limit 2 books per author.
Don’t forget to bring your favorites—or grab new ones at the event!
Will there be down time?
This retreat is all about you—join as much or as little as you’d like! While you're not required to attend every event, we hope you won’t want to miss them. We’ve crafted the agenda with sessions we think you’ll love, featuring topics that matter and authors you’re excited to meet. That said, we also hope you take time to explore AZ, enjoy a quiet coffee, dive into a great book, or simply take a moment to recharge.
Do people come alone?
Yes—and you're in great company! Many attendees come solo and end up leaving with new friends and unforgettable memories.
The atmosphere is warm, inclusive, and designed to help you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. This retreat is for you, so everything is optional—join in as much or as little as you'd like.
What is the Author Expo?
New this year, the Author Expo is an exciting opportunity to connect with authors across the thriller, mystery, and true crime genres. It will be open throughout all three days of the retreat, giving you plenty of time to explore, chat with authors, and discover your next favorite read!
Any events Sunday?
Whoa there, party animal! Sunday will not have any scheduled events and is considered a travel day.
Get your suitcase ready (you know, the one you saved for all those new books), say your goodbyes, and head home recharged and inspired.
